Fix it and coat all metal parts with military grade cosmolene when they are still dry. Centerboard is very, very useful.

Fix it! I replaced the SS pennant a couple of times due to corrosion. That was before strong synthetics were on the scene.

Most boats with a centerboard need the board to sail to weather. Without it the boat will just drift. I bought a boat that had the CB glassed in and had to cut it out.

28.5 1972 Irwin center board

Good morning all,

Purchesed our Irwin last June and sailed her from NC. to Boston(first time I ever sailed) what a forgiving boat. Now she is out of the water I see why I was not able to put the center board down grouth and stuff growing in the center board cavity, should I clean it out and rebuild it? or seal it up and forget? any sug.
