if you are upsizing the engine be sure to check what prop size and prop shaft diameter are required for a new engine. there has to be sufficient room under your hull to allow proper tip clearance for the new bigger prop blade, or your prop wont operate efficiently. and upsizing the p shaft and prop add on $$$$ to the cost of this high boat-unit job.
best to do the clearance measurements on the hard.
if you buy a new engine , replace your cutless bearing while the p shaft is out...

I would also suggest that you move the primary fuel filter to where you can access it easily. Mine is on the port front engine bed. You must also take into account that the main service side is now on the starboard side of the engine. so make sure you can access the oil filter easily. I think the 3YM30 is similar but Please do check

"Drop-in" replacement for Yanmar 2GM
My boat has the original Yanmar 2GM (1981 model). I was wondering if Yanmar has a new model with higher power output that was designed to drop in place on 2GM mount/mount locations?
The 2GM doesn't even have enough power to push me at hull speed and I would like to do that as well as install a second house-bank alternator.
Thanks for any ideas.
