Summary of Testing Drogues and Seanchors on Flat Water
This spring I decided to test my new Seabrake on flat water, to get the hang of rigging it, and to see if the drag was the same as the published reviews (it was). A storm is a bad time to be learning too many things.
One thing led to another and I ended up testing a small chute and weighted warps. I continued and found more data on the web and in print, scaled it all to match, and posted the summary on my blog. It was a fun project, solely for my personal education. Thought provoking.
Any conclusions are for me and my boat (PDQ 32 catamaran) and the application in storms and on monohulls are different questions. Still, I thought the data was worth sharing.
