Thanks, Jeff. No worries about dooming and glooming. This is just the kind of honest opinion I was hoping for. I''m still looking at that Albin Ballad I found close by . . .

These boats started life as MORC race boats and morphed into cruisers. They were designed to beat a rule, a rule that is completely changed to purposely move away from boats like the Seidelman 25''s and 30''s, and as such they were not what I would call a well rounded sailing boat. They tended to be quite tender and tricky to sail well.
Beyond that they really were very poorly built, So while I hate to be the voice of doom and gloom, there is a good reason why these boats are cheap but they are still not cheap enough to be worth messing with.

There are a couple good looking, reasonably fitted-out, used Seidleman 30''s in my range. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these boats and would care to lend an opinion or two. I''m unfamiliar with the name, and am looking for a budget-oriented passagemaker.
Jack, see what you''ve done to me? :-)
