|sailingdog||If the space is far enough aft, you'll probably want to only store lighter things there, or the boat will squat and be more likely to hobbyhorse. Is it accessible from the interior of the boat??? If so, the pantry idea might be a good choice. There are lots of foods that are relatively light and would probably be okay to stow aft in such a space.|

|CaptainForce||Traditionally, a lazarette is a storage space at the stern just foreward of the transom and at this location it would not be wise to store heavy items that would keep your vessel's motion more stable when stowed low and amidship. Though I have no lazarette on my current vessel, on a former boat I strung a hammock across this space that could accomodate a baged sail and my life jackets. 'take care and joy, Aythya crew|

its seems that there is a boat load (har t har) of empty space under my cockpit lazarette.... you guys find any creative use for it? heck its big enough to house a bed... tools/pfds/bucket etc in there now but a bunch of wasted, inefficiently used space. out of season clothing? added pantry? final resting place for jimmy hoffa?
