Architeuthis This can be much more difficult that it first appears. Many yards with haul out ability have limited land storage so rates go through the roof.

You may want to look at relocating the boat to your home, (if you have a yard) or to a rented lot well inland.

An option that worked for me was to buy a trailer, a new trailer if you have a great distance to travel and do not want trailer issues, use it for the year (likely be 2 or 3yrs) then sell it. I bought a nice new trailer, used it for a few years and sold it for almost 90% of my purchase cost. Mind you I did install extra jacks, keep tires covered, off the ground and touch up paint before selling. Even with all the extra effort and costs it was cheaper, way cheaper, than paying for a single trip with someone elses trailer.

sailingdog I'd point out that many storage yards and marinas have severe restrictions on what work you can do on your boat. It would be wise to call and ask about their DIY policies before doing anything else.

peptobysmol Try these or call a marina close to you and ask for haul out services.

Sailboat storage on lan

I am trying to figure out how much it would cost and where I could store a 40' boat on land for about a year. Its on a mooring at the moment and it needs some work done to it, so I am looking to find a place to get it put up on blocks so i can do the work myself. I have been trying to google a place/company that would be able to help me with this but with little luck. Does anyone have any ideas/recommendations on how to find these types of services? BTW, I am in the San Diego area. Thanks for any input!
