I agree that the compression post is the major weak point in the early model 37s.The surveyor should check for rot in the bilge under the shower pan.It is a serious problem but is repairable. The older boats are also susceptible to blistering again fixable.

One item to check on an early model PS 37 is the aluminum fuel tank in the bilge. These tanks are vulnerable to corrosion from bilge water or accumulated water inside the tank. Later model boats came with a fiberglass tank. The tank is easily removable for replacement or repair, so an aluminum tank should not be a deal-breaker in an otherwise sound boat. Another area to check is the compression post, as I have heard of some boats with compression post damage from water intrusion through the mast step or shower (head area). Good luck in your search,

I am currently looking at a 1981 PC37 and while I will have a complete survey completed prior to purchase, I am reaching out to the community to ask what potential problem area(s) should I be look for.
