That was a great spot. The depth of water we're in sure isn't what shows on the chart and people were avoiding it for further down the Baie and left us to ourselves.
I got a kick out of the old Ford Bronco wasting away in the bushes at the Pool end of the trail. I'm sure it was the same one that passed us going over the portage 25 years ago taking supllies over for a cottager. The Park should make him remove it, since it's now abandoned and everyone is using the large atv's.

Looks like life is good in that shot. Yes, it's hard to beat the scenery around here that's for sure!
Folks were in the habit of painting their boat names on the rocks at the pool. Park staff have probably covered it up.
That portage is brutal. I did patrols by canoe into and out of the pool over that one. We called it the "bitch", especially when you are humping a chainsaw and other handtools along with your own gear over it.

Didn't even try the town docks this year. Filled up and pumped out at the Lodge and they let me use a slip for a couple of hours while we stocked up, fish and chips etc. On the way back stopped at the groc. store.
The Pool is still full of weeds, although there were several boats in there. Hiked up to Topaz and there were about 30 up there.... way too crowded, but should have knwon as I watched 3 large aluminum boats loaded with people heading down the bay. Haven't noticed the grafitti however.
We did several canoe trips through Killarney 25 - 30 years ago. Most fun was the portage over to the Pool. Hiked up to Silver Peak a couple of times too.
Had a really good trip, Baie Fine is probably one of my favorites of all time. We anchored a couple of days on the north shore and then couple more days on the south.

|M275sailer||Hope you enjoy your trip Scott. I heard you were coming to Killarney so I moved to NCYC in Spragge. You know what we call the Pool? "The Cesspool". Boaters haven't been kind to the waters up in there and the grafitti is a sin. I worked as a Park Warden in Killarney and laid my share of charges around there.|

This was on the ridge close to Mary Anne's Cove, we hiked up one afternoon.

Now imagine carrying a 50 lbs. backpack or a canoe over the trail up to Topaz. It's one of the portages we did many years ago and the toughest I've ever seen.
I was surprised at the dozens of boats anchored down the narrow approach to the Pool.
The biggest attraction to the Pool is the reputation from years ago, I think turn of the Century, when Yachts would go in there and anchor. It became a legendary destination and maintained it's reputation over the years.
