SeaFever2000 rjg23,

I would try Discount Marine and Boat Supplies - Inflatable Sales - Defender. They have a good selection of the Marelon type vented loops and the prices are also reasonable. I got mine from them. Depending on where you are located, you could also find it in your local marine store such as West Marine...

Hope that helps.

Gene T Ah, that makes sense, I misread the original post.

The vented loop is in the raw water injection line before it goes into the exhaust elbow, like the Yanmar diagram below. As it says an anti-siphon or vented loop. Some install a vented loop with a small hose from the top into the cockpit well as it will not clog. And a bit of water spitting out is a comforting thing to see.

fawcettm You know what is nice about venting through the hull, you dont have to lean over so far to check for water coming out of your exhaust, I had a check value on an old vented loop, but it got stuck and took out my regulator below it. Since I put the new line and loop from vetus, I havent had any problems.

Gene T Are you saying your exhaust is 5/8"? If so that is too small and would cause engine problems like burnt valves.

Vented Loop

As I replace the exhaust system on my ysm8 it previously did not have a vented loop. There is a 5/8" line from the thermostat to the mixing elbow where the vented loop would go. I can't seem to find one for a 5/8" line that I have currently. Any suggestions on where to find? I have seen the Vetus but am not interested in venting that exhaust thru the hull. Can any old vented loop work?
