sealover How neat to see the last shuttle launch from a sailboat!

exkma367 Canton park worked for us back in November but only at high tide..

central pa deep ramp

My best suggestion is Lake Raystown Seven Points. 3 lanes, very steep for my 26 foot full keel. Not great sailing, Glendale lake has better sailing, never launched the big boat there but the ramp should be ok. We are cruising south right now, waiting in Titusville fl for the next shuttle launch. Good luck..

sealover Please tell me where the local lakes in PA are that have steep, deep ramps! I had to build a 12' tongue extension so I can launch a 17 foot swing-keel boat without dunking the tow vehicle. I wish the ramps here were half as steep as the hills I have to climb while towing the boat. (usually with a stop sign at the bottom so I can't get a run at them -- poor car!)

exkma367 Steep and deep is what I am looking for. We launch this way at our local lakes. I use 15 feet of chain between the trailer and the tow vehicle and it works like a charm. We always draw a crowd.

sailingdog While not familiar with the specific ramp in question, I seriously doubt that it is long enough for you to launch a keel boat at it. You need either a pretty steep ramp or a very long ramp to launch a boat with a five foot draft.

Canton Park MD, Full keel launch?

Has anyone launched at the ramps at Canton Park MD. It is off Boston street, a few miles east of the Inner Harbor. We are looking to trailer launch our Columbia 26 and need at least five feet of water on the ramp to float her off the trailer. We have a fifth wheel that drops down on the front of the trailer and we sink the whole trailer attatched to a chain. Google earth makes it look like a great launch and easy access since we are driving in from the middle of PA. Has anyone got there boat wet there? Are there any fees? We will be heading south and do not plan to return until the spring.
