deniseO30 It also would not be a good idea to put it in gear and use the prop as a fan when your working under the boat and it's hot outside.

sailingdog If you need to run it for longer, but not in gear, you can put a hose in that same bucket, so that the engine doesn't run out of water. DO NOT CONNECT THE HOSE DIRECTLY TO THE ENGINE... that is a really, really bad idea.

mitiempo Yes. if you take the hose off the raw water seacock and place it in a bucket of water. Not in gear for very long though as the cutlass depends on water for cooling.

Universal Diesel M25

I have a C30 with a M 25 motor can I safely run it for a short time while it is out of the water. It has a fresh water expansion tank that is cooled through a heat exchanger.
