biltong If you can get hold of an Amel Sharki, you will find yourself the owner of one of the most practically designed and safe centre cockpit yachts in the 12 metre range. (Being a Sharki owner, I am more than a little biassed)

killarney_sailor A friend has a Moody 346 which actually looks quite nice as center cockpits this size go. Nice boat but not very common in North America.

mpickering To throw my two cents in...

The O'Day 37 is a center cockpit boat. Has good reviews and they are cheap for their size.

Also look at the Gulfstar 36, 41 and 44 center cockpits. Older boats but solid glass and inexpensive. I look at a Gulfstar 36 as a liveaboard at one point. Quite a few cruisers have sailed these boats across oceans. There a Gulfstar 36 in my marina that I cast longing eyes towards whenever I see it.

I've owned a Beneteau 36CC for the past nine years. It is a very wonderful boat for our needs and would highly recommend it. If you want to get into particulars, feel free to PM me.

kwaltersmi One of the smallest cc boats is, to my eyes, a thing of beauty (Nor'Sea 27), although it certainly doesn't meet the OP's needs.

PCP Bavaria Ocean, Najad, Halberg-Rassy and a lot more that I think it will not interest you because probably you will not find them in America.

Sailingdog, I agree that small center cockpit boats are just ugly, but a very well designed one can be very nice with 38ft:

Najad 380 Classic

But I agree, you said "Most" and most under 40ft are just ugly

Tanzers have a good general reputation.. the 10.5 is a very large boat for its size and era, as you can see freeboard is a bit on the high side with all the issues that go with that. I think they've done a pretty good job of "hiding" the CB trunk in the layout.

I was told not too long ago that the Tanzer 10.5 moulds were sold and became the basis for the popular Southerly line out of the UK. We've see plenty of those on the Caribbean island hopping route.

bljones I forgot about the Northern 37. There's a fixer upper in Kingston listed at less than $25K, if memory serves.
Found it. Even cheaper than i remembered.
