Surfesq Geeduty:
Sorry, I am not Roadhard...That sounds like a girls name to me.

I would point to you and the Fool that arguing with Jeff H over whether Archimedes' Principal is properly expressed as a statement or a mathmatical equation is exactly the point of this thread...Displacement. Your personal shots, other than reflecting your own lack of understanding of the issue and of course providing me an opportunity for me to mock you have absolutely nothing to do with this thread.
I would suggest this to you and the Fool. If you don't add anything to the thread other than insulting people. Keep your thoughts to yourself.

geeduty This has nothing to do with the topic, but I used to visit a motorcycle forum and there was a guy that went by the name Roadhard. He was difficult to say the least. Even got kicked off the forum. Surfesq sounds like the same guy. Good luck with this one.

Surfesq Fool: Actually, I thought it was an interesting exchange with Jeff H about exactly what the Principal stands for and was within the topic of this thread. I am not sure your comments added anything to the topic.

infonote You can use sail calculator to check if your boat is already in database.

sailingfool Surfesq,

I haven't been visited the board for a while. Your post reminds me why.

This board is not the playground, if you some useful sailing insights to offer, do so, but you should keep the baby talk to yourself.

sailingdog Dry weight is generally a bit lower than displacement, as the displacement will often include gear, people, food, water, fuel and equipment. Both displacement and dry weight include the ballast on a boat, but the dry weight may not include gear, equipment, passengers, cargo, fuel, water, or food.

Please note that the USCG uses the term displacement to measure boats, and it has nothing to do with actual weight or volume of water displaced. My boat weighs 3400 lbs., yet the displacement according to the USCG for the boat is net FIVE tons, which is the minimum displacement for a documentable boat.
