Hi, could somebody tell me how much it would cost to hire a yacht out for a day in UK? Something small, cheap and nasty. Do the yacht owners generally ask for a heavy deposit? Any recomendations for companies? harbour nr south coast of UK

thanks

Welcome to sailing! I noted you said you were very new to it in an early thread. If you haven't already, I would encourage attending a formal keel boat course an obtain some basic certification. To cross the channel, I would suggest taking those course at least through a coastal passage level. Without it, I am all but certain that no one will hire out to you with such little experience.

Be patient. You've asked several questions with an obsession toward crossing the channel, but it doesn't seem realistic at the moment. Its great to have a long term goal. Go out and start with gaining experience. Formal coursework can put that on fast forward.

I am not sure about the UK, but here charter companies do not charter for one day. The clean up and vessel check are just too expensive and inconvenient. Some skippered charter companies do group daysails.
