Thank you all for your replies. In my search, I emailed the heads of all the 420 class associations and unanimously they recommended three places: sailawards, awards4sailing and noble awards. Very nice stuff, and one of them is priced low enough that I presume they have a CNC router and have already programmed the scantlings, like $30 for a 3.5" half hull and $50 for a 7" half hull.

Google 'half hull models' and you will find a bunch of people selling them.

Sounds like a job for a 3D printer if ever there was one. Somewhere in your area is a person desperate to use his/her new $5000 Solido machine. Getting the 420's scantlings into CAD would be the hard part. Could model one in clay and laser scan it? Maybe Vanguard could supply you with a scaled table of offsets?
Mount plastic 420 to a wood base, ta-da. Fun trophy. A CNC router could rough one out, too, tho there would be more cleanup work.

Where can I buy 420 half models?
We want to create trophies for our high school sailing team. I offered to carve plaques but don't really want to carve half models (I'm better at letters than 3D shapes). There are so many zillions of 420s across the world, yet none of the class websites mention half models. Have any ideas where I might find several?
