I am not a member at EYC, but know many that are. Its a great club, we were able to keep on sailing Sunday with many efforts to collect sunfish rigs and foils because they were lost in the fire. If anyone has any extra rigs or foils around the RI area to borrow or donate please PM so we can finish out the frostbite season.

CalebD That is a hard nut to swallow for the EYC members and community.
Back in the late 70's or early 80's the Sea Cliff YC burned down in a suspicious fire. It was confirmed that vandals had broken in and stolen a famous cup in the trophy case - the Sewannakah Cup or some such. The young men who did it were caught trying to fence the metal of the cup which they had cut in half.
SCYC was rebuilt with a new swimming pool - added in part to bring in more members.
I hope EYC can rebuild. It looked like a nice structure.
These are tough times for yacht clubs. Knickerbocker in Manhassett closed last year and not because of fire.
