Re: Any others?
My wife and I are in the process of making the same trip you planned to the Florida Gulf Coast in 2007. Where did you finally land and why? We're leaning heavily toward Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda.

|aquaman9||I am heading down soon to do some house shopping. Have found some great deals around Punta Gorda that include a dock for up to 40ft. We are just trying to decide if we should spend the extra to live on the water or save money on the home and buy it off the water. I have found that I can get alot better deal renting a private parties slip at the yacht clubs than going through the club itself. Venice was OK but did seem to have a little higher cost than Charlotte Harbour area. Stay in touch. We might be neighbors soon.|

Thanks for the above. And I've also stumbled across the Florida Yacht Club Council list.
Any more suggestions?

Charlotte Harbor YC. Great Club. Great Location. Great People.

Yacht Club Recommendations Ft. Myers - Charlotte Area?
On an upcoming trip to southwest Florida, we'll be poking about looking at possible areas for retirement.
Would like to get your comments about various marinas, yacht clubs, or local sailor hangouts. Things like "snooty," "casual," "racing-oriented," "mostly kiddie instructional," etc.
Ranging pretty much anywhere from Venice down to Naples.
