Does anyone have experience taking brush strokes off Interlux's Perfection Paint? Wet sanding doesn't seem to help, has anyone tried buffing with a cutting compound?
Any help would be appreciated before I destroy the paint job I recently did.
Perfection like Awrgrip makes its own Clear protective layer during the drying process and there is nothing that can be done that will not destroy the outer layer and the life of the paints gloss
Even if you want to do a second coat you have to fully wet sand it or the next coat will fisheye because of this
I painted my deck and cabin sides last summer with perfection.
If you have brush strokes in the paint then you really just have 2 choices: you can either live with it (small defects in out-of-the-way places), or sand it smooth and put on another coat (bad enough that it will bother you every time you're on the boat).
I got my best results from just rolling (no tipping) thin layers. It's far from perfect, but from a few feet away it looks very shiny and smooth.
If your going by what the can says about re-coating within 48 hours what can i say but the can is completely wrong :hothead
The only re-coating window is if your spraying and even then its a short amount of time < 1 hour depending on temperature
Working with two part paint is a bit more art than science as to the amount of thinning and how you apply the paint
