appreciate the advice. have decided to do the hawks channel afterall. Plan on leaving out first thing in the morning 04/26 and plan on anchoring at Rodriguez key then up into Biscayne Bay to following day. Time is not a problem but I don't want to spend too much of it waiting for BoatUS to come drag me back into the water. first big push (not so big I guess) by myself, wish me luck.
Melrna, not familiar with Phillip and Allison, sorry

I did this route last month. While tight it is doable. I too draw 5'. Average depth is 6-7'. Not for the faint heart but I never touched. With a full moon now, I would be careful to plan on going during a raising tide. That will keep you out of trouble.
Hans you don't happen to know Phillip and Allison from GB?

Gotta' agree the the Authya crew--5-feet is really tight.

|CaptainForce||I came up from Ilsamarada on the Bayside a couple months back. Five feet can pass here, but it's near the edge. I'd suggest Hawk's Channel from Marathon up to the 65' bridge between Long Key & Lower Matecumbe. Take care and joy, Aythya crew|

Leaving the keys...
Wondering if anyone has been up the ICW (inside) from Marathon to Miami lately? I'll be leaving next week with a 5 foot draft planning to go the inside (singlehanding) and am hoping for some local knowledge as to the skinny water areas. I know Hawks Channel has lots of depth but I'm not sure I want to risk having to make an overnight alone! Sort of looking forward to seeing the other side of things too.
On a side note, if anyone is in need of a great slip (private home) in Marathon mine's available after the 25th.
Appreciate any info on this trip...
