No, your opinion is quite welcome. We often have drive by shooters, that will post a bunch of posts against a company and then leave. Sometimes there can be ulterior motives behind the posts. When the only posts are complaints, that is how it appears. Also if a company has had good reviews in the past then there may have been a change in management or ownership and deserves a new thread. I see that you have now entered a "hello" thread, so it is unlikely that this is just the postings of a competitor. Also it is bad forum Netiquette to cross post the same message, and make it look like you could well be a bot. (an automated machine that was designed to post a message all over the net)

That aside, welcome to the forum. Sorry if I seemed to be jumping all over your posts.

Thank you for your warm welcome to the group! I replied on threads that were specifically asking about that company. As a new member searching the threads the only posts were older posts and why start a whole new thread when there are ones already started out there. I was looking at getting some information and recommendations and also giving my recommendations from places I've dealt with but if that's not the purpose of this board then I'll look elsewhere.

I stated in several emails that we wanted to finalize the trip, how does payment work, deposits, refunds, etc. and they never gave me an answer. They never said you need X amount of a deposit paid in this way by this date to reserve the boat. I emailed again over a week ago saying we want to finalize how does payment work, no response. I emailed again last night saying just checking you got my email. I get a response this morning, one sentence - Sorry we no longer have any yachts available for the date we had selected. I was livid! I called and spoke to him and read him email after email where I stated I want to finalize and never in any of the responses he sent did he ever give me instructions on how to do that and then they book the boat out from under us. My husband is in the military and is currently away from the family for a year and this was the one trip for us to see him and now with only a month to go until his leave time, we have to scramble and plan something else. Make sure you keep everything in writing so you have proof as to what was and was not said!

I have to agree with Ketch and ChairSailor. We also had a bad experience with Fair Winds. The boats break down frequently and the manager, who works remotely, is not a nice guy. I would expect more from a vacation company.

jccarr I was down sailing with BWSS 2 weeks ago and spent 2 nights at the same port with a Fair Winds sailing school boat. We spent time visiting with their students over dinner. They were all very happy with their week and had nothing but good things to say about the experience, training and their Captain Ethan.
