My Sabre is equipped with the original CNG and I have a spare bottle. On Maryland's Eastern Shore there are two CNG exchange locations convenient to me. When the bottle installed in the boat is running low I exchange the empty which has been in storage so I have a replacement ready when the onboard bottle runs out.
There is always one bottle installed onboard, held in place with two very substantial brackets. The gas valve is only open when cooking and then closed after use. We never cook underway so the valve is always closed when sailing.
Soon I will take delivery of my new to me Catalina 387 which is of course propane...I'll let you know which I like better, but I've not been unhappy with CNG.

CNG vs. Propane
We had CNG for 20 years, now have propane, and would never go back.
In addition to the difficulty of finding refills (impossible outside the US, which may not matter to you), you have the problem that you have to refill them very often: each tank stores very little energy (by comparison to propane). Full-time liveaboard/cruising, we get almost 3 months out of a 20# tank of propane. In large measure, these are the same downsides to alcohol-fired cooking: you often can't get it, and it produces little heat for the volume it takes to store it.
If you're that scared of propane, would it make sense to you to get a diesel-fired oven/stove? The fuel is safe and available, and you're probably carrying some already. There are other tradeoffs, of course, which is why most people eventually wind up with propane.

the biggest problem I have is refills..only a handful of places in the Mid atlantic...none convenient.
Definitely safer as far as boats are concerned. Easy to use, good heat, clean burning.
We keep the tank connected but turned off when not in use.

Using CNG - compressed Natural Gas
Anyone using CNG/LNG? When I searched all I got was the "hot air" sites. I am curious as to why there is such low usage as it appears to be much safer. For the users, do you keep you tank connected and turned off or disconnect while sailing? How do the BTU's compare to propane?
Any other comments are appreciated.
