swimnshoot Thanks for the replies. Imagine, I grew up in Orange Park and now live just west of Mayport where the ICW and river meet. The currents and depths are much more hairy here.

We hope to shove off the dock in the next week and ease the sails out a bit. With 4 kids, my wife is insisting that I get the boat dialed in before taking the whole fam damily out. So, me being the agreeable sort, said "sure thing dear" This boat has an atomic-4 that purrs, harken roller furling, and mainsheet traveler. It came with a tight main and rolled head sail of unknown size or name ?
The roller furling drum is cracked at the top and I'm wondering if this deadlines it (sail snagging potential), otherwise, the rigging appears tight and sound.
Will surely post results, thanks again.

imagine2frolic I would get some basic lessons. It's not so bad south of downtown. As you know from downtown to the ocean can have some strong current. Be safe, and enjoy.......i2f

gerardtech Me too. I have always wanted to sail since I was a teenager. Looks like we have some things in common.

WanderingStar Welcome aboard! Sailing can be very rewarding, learning at times is frustrating. Be patient, be careful.

New Sailor in JAX

Hello,

We are the proud new owners of a 1975 27' Bristol Although I have owned approximately 25 power boats in my life, I have wanted to sail the world since I was a teenager. I look forward to this new journey of knowledge and experience, and want to thank all those here who share theirs with "the newbies"

Kirk
