WanderingStar Too broad a question, like asking who you should marry, or what house to buy. Building a boat is rewarding, but not quick or easy. Try starting with a nice sailing dinghy to see how you fare. There are two home built cruising sailboats in my home harbor, each took over twenty years to build. Some people can live on and cruise very simple boats, others not so much.

Learning the Ropes

I would like to learn from some experienced sailors, I'm looking to build my own sailboat, and wondering what kind of boat I need for extended time on the sea, and what it is like for long periods of time.
