I got my Davis M25 on eBay last summer for 'bout $65.00 (US).

sailingdog Try getting a Davis Mark III plastic sextant, less than $50 with shipping.|17|6626&id=83267

akoutdoors1 I'd love to have a "cheap" plastic one!

sailingdog Considering that a good metal sextant is worth over $500 or so, it is unlikely that you're going to get one donated to you. If you're really interested in learning CN, then get a cheap plastic one...that will at least let you learn what you're doing, if you take care of it. Then, after you've learned a bit about CN, you can decided if you want to invest in a good metal sextant.

Superfluous Sextant?

I would love to have a sextant for learning CN. Any of you GPS converts have one collecting dust? Please send it my way.
