On my 530 Pearson it's there to let light into the engine room, sealed & permanent.

I know I VERY late, but this is not an inspection port, it is a port light; in other words, only there to let in light.
I hope you didn't waste time & $ replacing it.

|dvuyxx||It's right where you stand at the wheel helm. I haven't opened it yet because I didn't want to break the seal without a new port in hand ... but my understanding is that this is the thru-port to see the fuel gauge.|

|P35juniper||Where is this inspection port in your P-35 cockpit deck, mine has a removeable port over the rudder for the tiller, there is not much to see down there.|

Its strange ... I keep finding inspection ports that are 6-1/8, but not 6-1/2 ... or is the 6-1/8 referring to the size of the raw opening in which it fits?

|hellosailor||David, if it has crazed it probably is plastic, not glass. But if the portlight can be removed, any good glazier should be able to cut a replacement piece of glazing for you. Tempered glass or case-hardened glass, they will have different options for you depending on the shop's own resources. Might be simpler to just replace it with 1/4" plexiglass (a UV-resistant and scratch-resistant grade) and have the shop cut a half dozen pieces for you, swap them out and polish or replace as need be. Plain plexi is fairly cheap and with some elbow grease and heavy plexi polish (scratch remover) you might find it easier than getting a better material.|

See-through inspection port (cockpit deck)
Has anyone had luck replacing the 6.5" diameter glass inspection port on the deck of a Pearson. In my case, it is for a Pearson 35. I believe the part is original to the 1979 specs. The glass has glazed/crazed over and is not longer see-through. This port is brass and glass (tempered?). I don't necessarily need an exact replacement, but something similar.
