When I open up a forum, having those threads with new posts shown in bold is like leaving a mark on a page to pick back up later. Further, subscribed threads are not correct for this same reason, as DF described above.

I also visit an aviation forum that uses this same software for its forums and this is not a problem there.

The only connection I made to the new version was that we were getting tons of new features before making the old ones work properly.
Ahha .... thanks for clearing that up Minne. Would you PM me the name of the aviation forum ? I'd like to check it out and then take it up with Admin.

You know, in my business life we deal with Spanish companies and have done so for 25 years. One thing I have found with the Spaniels is that if the answer to a question is simply 'NO', you will simply never get a reply. Sometimes I wonder if maybe Admin have Iberian blood in their veins.

John, I thoroughly agree with you there. Go away for more than 24 hours and it all gets very confusing. I'm sure there are folk out there who think I have deliberately ignored them when in fact I have simply missed a reply to a thread.

but but but .... I thought Minne was complaining about something new since the software upgrade ....

anyway .... how's the lovely Laurie Anne going ? Do you ever see the one (yes I meant the boat) that I was so keen on ?

DRFerron I don't know how it is supposed to be, but when I click New Posts I see the threads that I post in show not bold (even if a new post has come in since I posted) and everything else as bold.

In the regular forum, threads that I look at but do not post in and threads that I post in become bold when a new post is added since I last visited.

If I subscribed to a post, sometimes after a new post is added the thread viewed in the regular forum area is bold but it is not bold when I click Subscribed Threads.

After a while I just started paying attention to the date stamp instead of whether it was bold.

The problem is that the system seems to mark threads as read ( ie not new), even though I never opened them. This always happens if I am logged on but idle for a period.
but hasn't it always been so ?

tdw I'm confused Minnewaska.

After being logged on for a while if I click on new posts I get a bunch of unread threads (meaning threads with at least one unread post since I last logged on.)

If I click on 'quick links' 'today's posts' I get all unread threads from the last 24 hours.

Isn't that how it has always been or am I not understanding your question ?

New Posts has a problem

Does anyone else have a problem with using the New Posts tab? I like being able to see what I haven't already read. However, if I simply stay logged on for 15 or 20 minutes, even if I'm not opening anything, they all become marked as read (ie not new). I even come back a day later and threads with posts that I never opened are not indicated as New.

I've sent several notes to the webmaster on this, with no reply.

I wish they would fix the bugs in this (and the search function as another poster mentioned) before plowing in so many new features.
