arisatx You could also get a 2nd fairlead on the track or maybe rig a barber hauler to clear the cowl.

teejayevans I guess the easiest solution would be to put a SS bar across the gap above the vent to prevent line from getting under the vent.

brokesailor Thats a replacement the old one got ripped off during a tack at seatrials.

teejayevans Yes, it should go through the block (winches may be designed to only handle strain from 1 direction), the engine vent should be safe unless you get a lot of slack in the line and it suddenly the sail fills, even then I think the vent should be able to handle it.

Crealock 37 headsail sheeting

Is the headsail sheet supposed to go around the block and then to the winch? As you can see in the picture if I do that I run the risk of ripping off the engine blower exhaust port (happened once).
