dbruce85 Picked up the filter replacement cartridge, it came with the 2 "O" rings.
Changing it was so easy even I could do it.
Filled the canister back up with diesel and it started right up, ran for a while with no problem.
Perhaps the filter was partially clogged which caused the seal on the top "O" ring to break, I will continue to watch it.

Only if the air in the Racor increased to the point where air would be taken into the fuel line to the engine. This point is beneath the filter canister. Certainly, you can fill the Racor with diesel and run your engine at the dock for sufficient time to see if it stops due to the air and importantly to see if air is still entering the filter or, not to risk the hassle of a longer job, go ahead and pump the manual fuel pump lever with the bleed screw slightly open and see if you have air bubbles. However, if your fuel level in the Racor is still above the fuel effluent line, you should have no air in the system. Take care and joy, Aythya crew

I guess what I meant to ask was do I have to bleed the air out of the fuel system at the secondary filter and injectors if I add diesel to the primary filter

CaptainForce You don't necessarily need to "bleed" or "drain" fuel from the bottom unless there is a layer of sediment, water, or darker discolored fuel at the base.

I don't believe it has a bleed bolt on top, but I will check. It does have a cleanout bolt on the bottom.

If I take it apart and add diesel fuel to fill it, do I have to bleed the system?

MitchM none of my racors ever showed air at the top. after changing a filter i'd fill the racor body with clean diesel fuel from a top - up bottle of fuel. does yours have the cleanout bolt on the bottom, and a bleed bolt on top ? loosening the bleed bolt should allow a gravity fill of fuel into the bowl of the racor. when the bowl is full of fuel, tighten the bleed bolt...

CaptainForce Although my Racors are 500 series I'm confident that any of the Racors would not be designed to function with air inside the filter. I would suggest that you open the top of the filter-separator and top it off with diesel, inspect the O-ring and moisten it with a finger swipe of diesel and refit the top. There actually may be another O-ring seal at the threaded center post for you to inspect. Often these O-rings can be replaced as they are present within the packaging of the replacement filters. Once again, I'm speaking with my familiarity with the 500 series, but I assume it's similar. Take care and joy, Aythya crew

Racor EX200FG

Hello,

I have a Racor EX200FG as a primary filter on my Universal 5411.

When I look at the glass bowl it is only about 1/2 full, with air on the top half. Is this normal?, as you probably can tell I am new to a diesel.

Also does anyone know where I can get a manual or service instructions for the Racor. I have tried a Google search with no luck..
