ccher Here on the Northern Neck, a severe T-storm rolled through Sunday evening and the wireless internet tower took a direct lightning hit-no service until this morning (not served by cable or FIOS so wireless is the only option). Began focusing on Irene prep; then sitting in my 2nd floor office on Tuesday the floor started vibrating followed by the walls warping, the widow rattling and my chair rocking. Got outside like a shot. Now its back to thinking about Irene. A few are hauling their boats but I'm in a really good hurricane hole and will leave her at the dock with some extra lines and slack. Looking like the eye will track off the capes so unless things change, tide surge will be the main threat for us as with Isabel and Ernesto.

WanderingStar I was on the boat and didn't notice it. Thinking back, she might have rolled a little, but I took it for a wake. Almost immediately people texted me though. My wife felt it on the beach.

Mark1948 Shaking felt in Milwaukee, Wi as well. I thought I was having a medical issue as my chair was swaying and monitor was moving as well.

Ulladh I was at a farmers market in Philadelphia, but did not know about it until my daughter called. She lives on the 18th floor of a building in center city and did not know about until the building alarm speaker told the occupants not to evacuate, she looked outside and saw some windows broken on newer buildings.

Mayor Nutter told everyone to get back to work.

JimMcGee First the floods, now an earthquake and a hurricane coming. OMG the Mayans were right!

A little disconcerting but I'm more worried about what Irene's going to do.

SVAuspicious I thought someone hit the boat. Minor damage on the docks but all the boats in my marina are fine.

T37Chef We're North of Washington and felt it, and just had a minor aftershock.

I was just starting the first day of my Advanced Cooking class, preparing for an awesome tasting exercise and showing a excerpt of a video, when the projector started moving a bit, then pretty intensely. My first thought was a terrorist attack, it wasn't long till I realized it was an earthquake.

We evacuated the building immediately after the trembling stopped. Unfortunately, the college closed so I had to throw all the stuff away for the tasting

I had experienced a few when I lived in California, but this was the largest for me...weird sheet.

Local news is reporting some damage but no serious injuries. Some facades have fallen here and there in DC. The worst right now seems to be traffic out of DC.
