chef2sail Thats great...feels great to shut the noisemaker off and use the boat the way she was intended. Good luck with her.

CalebD While it is a really good idea to have a motor (most people agree with this) your boat is a sail boat and uses the sails to keep it moving.
First outings are a great thing and it is a wonderful thing to be able to turn on your motor to get back to your mooring or dock when you want to.
Glad to hear that both you and your wife enjoyed the experience. Keep going out and trying to sail and you will figure it out.
Learn how to reef the sails if the wind gets heavier then you are comfortable with but you can always drop sail and motor if you have to.
Have fun!

Maiden Voyage!

Today was a landmark day. We bought the boat on August 1st. Today the wife and I went on our first sail alone! I had never sailed before. I took a few private lessons and did lots of reading but I was motoring about in the boat. The sails have gone up and we were tacking and jibing all by ourselves! The wife wants more wind and wants the boat to go faster! We stayed in the harbor but this weekend we will probably venture out of the harbor into the ocean.
