littlelizzy Thanks. I used the butyl tape to reset my fixed windows which I replaced with tinted plexi. I bought it at the auto parts store and while it worked well I think I will look for the light grey next time as the black seems to stain a bit. I have to get some photos up

rpljr Although not with "total rebedding"--yet--I do have some experience with this and the principles/techniques for re-bedding one penetration can be applied to nearly all the rest. My recommendation would be to check out the step-by-step information on:

Compass Marine "How To" Articles Photo Gallery by Compass Marine at

I believe these are good, very sound techniques and have already used them myself on a smaller scale and with great success/confidence (thus far). I bought the butyl tape and intend--when things get a little cooler down where I live--to remove and re-bed each of my stanchions, replacing the old/cracked stamped one-piece gaskets that Pearson apparently chose to use for the 31-2's with the butyl rubber, as shown on the "pbase" site. Apparently, the stanchion bases are the biggest/most common culprits for water intrusion on our model.

littlelizzy I am about to embark on a total rebidding project. DO you have any experience with this on your boat?

rpljr Hello:

I, too, have a Pearson 31-2, 1987, Hull #5. Would be interested in sharing boat info/ideas/etc.

Pearson 31-2 would love to meet other owners

Posted this on another location on this site but will here too. I am looking for 31 owners to start a page of our own here to swap info on our boats. Any of the 268 boat owners interested?
