poopdeckpappy Sorry AV Jim, D37 is the desert racing org., we'd race or ride out in the AV area almost every weekend; I thought you may be a rider/racer being out in the area.

either way, welcome to SN

Cherie320 It was my understanding that all of the Lugers were kit boats. Consequently, the owner could have built the boat with a fin keel. Interesting to see how the hull is strengthened to support the weight and side loading of the keel. The original specs were to lay down foam half tubes and glass over them to make an internal grid. Then the interior was added for more structure. Certainly an interesting boat. You might look on the MacGreggor web site. There is a guy in Southern Ca who has an early prototype that is fitted with a fin. He might be of some help when you get to the point of tuning. The boats are quite similar. Good Luck.

AppleValley_Jim The Keel is rusted out at the bottom and one other spot... I'll have to learn how to fix that. Really, just cosmetics. I hope the boom is there, I haven't seen it yet, and no sails.

kpgraci Like it. Looks like it has potential. Hope there are no major problems...keep us posted.

Good deal! That's a good looking boat with a modern, fast looking underbody, keel and rudder. Good luck. As for launching, you can always go to somewhere like Dana Point and launch it with a hoist, rather than trying to get that trailer 6 feet under water. I have launched a fin keel boat from a trailer, and I could get it in the water from the trailer, but not out. I had to use a hoist for that.
