cal 22 owner

Hello to all, I just purchased a cal 22. I had been eyeing her a few years and she was posted on craigs list and I bought her for 2000. She is a work in progress the sails were totally shot, I found strange since I owned several 70ies vintage boats with great originial sails. I purchased a set of J 22 sails for 500 a north main like new and a Quantum jib in like new condition, the j22 has the same sail area as the cal just a inch or two smaller at the main foot no biggie. The fiberglass seems good but the inside cushions are shot and will soon be redone. I am working on a motor topo bought a 4 horse but not sure its going to be fixed, so I am bidding on a 9.9 sailmaster and a 7,5 yachtwin both electric starts long shafts.

I have sailed since a very young age, my first boat was a optimist pram then a scat like a sunfish. I then at age 15 wanted a boat with a jib and bought and restored a old folbot 15 it was wood with glass over the hull and was varnished to perfection by me the two seasons I owned her. I even painted the hull red with epoxy. I bought her for 350 sold her for 1500. Then I bought my fist cabin boat a venture 17 for 2,500. My dad had a newport 27 I sailed on every weekend in the summer from the time I was 12 till he sailed it to Fl. after I turned 18. I have owned a tanzer 22 my favorite boat, we won several races in her! A coranado 27, and wylie 34 and a few others. I seem to have more fun on the smaller boats the 22 is perfect for me since I mostly day sail and race.

I also do awl-grip refinish jobs and fiberglass & gel coat repair. Yes im pretty good at blending lol. I am glad to be on here and hope to learn and share what I have learned through the years.
