5'''' vs 6''''4" draft cruising the islands

Hello

Is there a significant advantage in having a 5 ft draft over a 6''4" draft when cruising the islands generally.

I realize that it would be best to be more specific, but I cannot. Would really like to know if 6''4" is just much more limiting than 5 ft for trying to get to most of the places in the BVI, Bahama''s etc.

Thanks

The Bahamas is where it will be more limiting. Last winter in my boat that draws 5''2" there were many times I was in less than 6'' (and times I was aground), with 6''4" you''d have to play the tide more, or anchor farther out, or skip a few places. Few places you couldn''t go to at all.

P.S. Bahamas charts and guide book for sale
