SBI: Leading name in the business.
Florida has been in the news a lot in recent years, passed a new statute defining liveaboards, and is in the middle of a huge fight with the municipalities concerning who will regulate what and how. You might want to take a good look before considering living aboard anchored out. (The rich people never do like the hoi poloi ruining the view, you know.)

|Clarity2||I'll explore the idea but I think I like the convenience of a dock.|

|jzk||For me, living in a marina would be like living in a parking lot. Being at anchor is the best. More privacy, better breeze flow through the boat (often the boat points into the wind, but there is lots of tide flow in SE Florida, so not always), the million dollar view, and the freedom to move somewhere else if desired. You would just need some kind of power generation via wind/solar or even generator.|

Lots of live aboard folks there.
Your draft sounds a bit deep for easy access though.

|ppiccolo1||JZK is that a viable option? I'm a solar panel away from that being feasible for me and looking at SE Florida or maybe corpus christi depending on my work situation, but I have no issues with living on the hook. Is there legalities to consider? If I had a $2,000,000 house on the beach, I wouldn't want some wing-nut dropping anchor off it.|

|jzk||Have you considered living at anchor and just paying for dinghy dock service? You get the benefits of the anchor view/breeze/freedom and some of the benefits of the dock like parking, showers, mail, etc.|

|Clarity2||Thank you very much, FSMike! St. Brendan's Isle sounds perfect.|

Let us know what you find out. I'm in the same situation for next fall.
