ModMMax Thanks for the welcome everyone. Artfuldodger, we have a deposit on a slip at Bayport Marina in Midland, Ontairo. Next summer will give us a chance to look around a little more. Thanks for the suggestion. We hope to arrive in Georgian Bay by mid May or whenever the waterways open. We plan to begin the trip north in late March using the ICW, Hudson river, Erie and Oswego Canals, Lake Ontario and the Trent waterway to get to Georgian Bay. This has already been a wonderful adventure and we haven't even started. Thanks again for the welcome. I'll try not to become known as "the stupid question power boat guy".

Cruisingdad Good one Eryka.

eryka Heck, some of us may even become powerboaters as we age -- then they call us 'transvesselites.'

sailingdog Most of us are prettty tolerant of powerboats, and with the fuel prices the way they were earlier this year, some of us even feel sorry for you guys.

That said, many of the issues that you will face are similar, if not the same as issues us sailors face with our wind-driven boats, so feel free to ask away..

camaraderie Alvin...If you are looking for more powerboat oriented chat...try over at the message board. We'll try to be tolerant here too!

Pirate's Booty Yep - thanks eryka. Although as my engines are not working, I am more of a floaterboater at the moment. I looked for these rubber end caps for my heat exchanger and they are $50 each - I couldn't believe it. The engines will need to wait for a few more paychecks before I can buy all the parts.

Welcome, Alvin! I just moved aboard fulltime at the end of June and am loving it so far. There is lots to learn, but I have found that most of my neighbors are extremely nice and don't mind lending expertise and tools from time to time.

'sokay! relax!

You're welcome to stay anyway - we liveaboards are (mostly) a live-and-let-live laidback group. "Pirate's Booty" is also a powerboater.

ModMMax Thanks sailingdog. Your right, its a motoryacht. Sorry, got so excited about the idea of living aboard and finding a forum for same that I overlooked the forcus on sailboats. Does anyone know of a forum especially for motoryacht owners? Thanks in advance.
