Re: Live Aboard Recomended Boat List

Speaking as a 5-year-plus liveaboard, there are three things that are important: 1) heavy displacement/full keel will keep you more or less upright on a windy or choppy day. You don't want to live in a galloping gurdy. 2) Solid construction - thick fiberglass in cold climates reduces condensation and keeps the boat warmer. 3) Storage - lots of it.

All this militates for going toward the cruising end rather than the coastal end of the spectrum.

Re: Live Aboard Recomended Boat List

Hello All, I'm new to the forum, and I have a question. I'm in the process of selecting a boat to live aboard. As I'm making my absolute must have list and the one thing I can;t get around is interior room. I'm 6'5" and 250lbs. Any ideas for the max interior space. I'm thinking around 30 to 35 ft, no blue water, but some daysailing certainly. I've heard Cape Dory's or Island Packets. I have a lead on a 28' Morgan O/I that the seller says has 6'3" standing room in the salon....is that possible?? Any ideas, for a big guy, living alone, on what boat to look at???

I second the S2's ....especially the Center Cockpits because they have an aft stateroom with good storage. The separate shower/ tub ia also nice. The galley is well set up and there is plenty of storage on board.

Where? I've looked everywhere I can think of and haven't found an 11.0 a/b/c for under $35k (CAD). The 11.0c is precisely what I'm looking for but all I can find are 9.2a/c in the $27k range and a few 8.0a/c in the $4000-$7000 range.

Whoever finds me an 11.0c for $20k wins 14 internets. Not those old Internets. I'm talking Web two point Oh. 14 of'm!

But I am curious what 50' + boats end up on it between 10k and 20k.
