Re: Sails,Whales and the Green Flash

Got a couple more days in this weekend. Although Easter Sunday was pretty white knuckle. Winds were getting up there (35+)with small craft warnings and short steep, breaking seas. Not too comfy and we stayed out only 2 1/2 hours just for the heck of it. Anybody going sailing?

Howzit Caleb,
Yep, we're having a lot of fun! We're on O'ahu, but it's the same scenario driving down the hill towards the ocean. Hale'iwa is on the North shore of the island. We got out again this past Tuesday for a couple hours and are planning to go Saturday too. Hope that the East coast sailing is startiing off good.

Re: Sails,Whales and the Green Flash

I visited the Aloha state around this time several years ago. I saw whales while driving along a coastal road in Maui.
We did a 'snorkeling excursion' with an outfit on Kuai'i on a large catamaran that goes around to the Napali coast. On the way back a Gray whale let out such a noise that the aft stay on the catamaran started vibrating sympathetically. It was an eerie moment.
You folks live in a sailing town with a whale problem come March.

Sails,Whales and the Green Flash

Howzit Cal people,
Just letting you all know that we got the whole package last night. Well ,we could have caught a fish, and that would've been the topper. Let out the full genny in 15kts trades with many whales blowing, tail smacking and jumping all around. Came in at dark as the sun went down and enjoyed the magic of the moment. Sounds corny, but it's making work today alot easier/nicer. Have fun out there, and let's see some more posts. Going again on Sunday!
Aloha ka'kou,
