I agree. Another option is to buy a small can of plasdip or something like that - the rubberized paint that you dip things in it.

I just broke the cheap plastic lever that engages/disengages the wheel, near the motor... I'll have to adapt by using an aluminum rod and drilling a hole to accommodate the pin.

It is about 1/2 inch across and 1/2 inch deep and fits over the end of the pin to prevent slop in the attachment.
I could probably just wind plastic electrical tape around the pin, but it would not be as durable.
I cannot even find a part number for it.
Can anyone help?
Pleeeeeze?

Palmetto,

Would you happen to have a control panel for an ST4000 Wheel Pilot? I have contacted Raymarine and the 4000 is out of production and they have no parts.

I may have a serviceable one. Are we talking about the gear on the motor shaft that would drive the belt?

Assume you have tried a Raymarine dealer? Autohelm was taken over by Raymarine some time ago. I have a Autohelm ST5000+ Sail Pilot on my yacht and was able to get replacement parts from Raymarine last year.
