Good led spreader lights are expensive. A low cost option is a headlamp for foredeck work.

Re: Spreader Lights 2012?

If you sail at night it is good to be able to light up your sails so you are very visible to ship traffic. Not that you would sail around all the time like that but it is good to be able to light yourself up if you are not sure they see you.

I have some LED spreader lights that arent cheap but dont draw much electricity either. Not worth it if you dont sail at night much

I assume you're referring to illumination of the foredeck, as I've seen spreader lights that are simply decorative or good night markers.

I do like being able to light the foredeck. I always do an anchor or mooring check prior to calling it a night.

Spreader Lights 2012?

I dropped the mast on my 30' Morgan OI and want to do some re-wiring and replace the VHF coax...My spreader lights are the little 12v off-white plastic ones that have never worked in the 5 years I've owned the boat. I am surprised at the price range and am wondering if any of you have replaced yours and what you'd recommend. Are they important? I ask because I've done fine without them so far.
