Re: Teak Cockpit

While the teak looks nice you can't see it thru cushions. The teak is most likely plywood, not solid, and will fail in time. I replaced mine last spring at a cost of $60/ sq ft.

Re: Teak Cockpit

I have teak seat inserts in my Beneteau and while they are more comfortable than sitting on just glass, you can't see the teak when the cushions are in use anyway. I'd skip the teak--less maintenance that way.

Re: Teak Cockpit

Do you like the look of teak? It takes some work to keep it looking expensive or it turns gray and deteriorates slowly, which some like the look of as well.
I like the look and feel of teak but I could also do without it, if it is not necessary.
You will have plenty of other systems to worry about without exterior teak.

No teak - put the $700 towards cockpit cushions.
