My Vovo Penta 2003 has this bypass filter installed by the PO. It actually has a roll of toilet paper inside as filter media. Anyway it is leaking out of the top wingnut seal. Bilge full of oil. I looked up the company on the Internet and I guess they don't make these anymore. What do I do?
Sounds like it might be very old? Is it the only filter? If so suggest replacing it with a full flow spin on type of arrangement that has a by-pass feature if the filter becomes plugged. If it is a full time by-pass filter only part of the oil is being filtered.
Can't send picture, no way to download to laptop on the boat.
A mechanic looked at it and we will be removing it. Thee rreturn line will be capped off at the block. The supply line is going to be fitted with a local oil pressure gauge.
Still haven't figured out how to get all that oil out of the bilge. I bought some WM oil absorbers but they are not doing the job.
Haven't seen one in decades but the TP filters I remember were from the Franz company which rightfully should be out of biz. In a quick search I found a company with a copycat type name which lists all the usual hype for those filters. Frantz Oil Filters
