Re: Columbia 23t Mast Question

I had a C23 that we dismasted, broke right in half at the speaders.
I found a mast off a Balboa that was the same spar. Fit the base.
But was also a foot taller. I wanted it that way as I had a custom main made for her that was a foot taller to correct the really bad lee helm she had.
Made it MUCH easier to go all the way through a tack. Before, she would turn and run off which can be super dangerous. Causes accidental gybes.
As long as the spar fits the base AND, you want to make sure the sail track for the luff of the main is the same size.
I recut all my own wires, oversized and put on new turnbuckles as well.

Columbia 23t Mast Question

hi all, I just got a Columbia 23t and it didn't come with a mast. I have both sails and the boom, and the sails are in good shape. I found a 25 foot mast (the owner's manual that I found says that the stock mast is 24 feet).

I'm also completely new to the sailboating world.

My question is, would this mast work with the stock sails since the mast is 1 foot taller? Also, the picture that I attached is from the seller's ad of the mast, I believe the picture shows the bottom of the mast, but I can't really tell if it might work with the stock step on the Columbia.

Any help would be appreciated, because I have no idea what I'm doing here, just reading and reading and looking at the boat and going from there. Also, if anyone has any detailed pictures of the mast up with the sails up and all the rigging on a 23t, i would greatly appreciate them so that I can do everything right once I get a mast and get it up.

Thanks,
Ken
