Marina on the Jersey side of the Delaware

Bohemia yacht basin. Nice place, nice people (from a transients point of view). Draft might be a consideration.

Edit: just re read your post. Bohemia is on the chesapeake bay side. Sorry about that!

Rock Hall or Worton Creek on the Ches. Those seem to be where the NJ and PA people congregate.

Have a look at Salem, I have not been their but is may be an option.

A bit further way would be Hancock Harbor on the Cohansey below Salem and about 25nm from the C&D. Nice marina with a lot of sail boats.

But if you are driving from North NJ, Delaware City is not far from the Delaware Memorial Bridge and may be a shorter drive than Salem or the Cohansey, or anther 30 to 40 mins will get you to the Bohemia or Sassafras on the Chesapeake, as opposed to 2 to 4 hours motoring through the C&D.

Re: Marina on the Jersey side of the Delaware

Why not simply keep the boat on the Chesapeake such as Sassafras River, Bohemia River, Worton Creek, Tolchester etc. .... and then you dont have to spend time transiting the C&D, especially with its adverse currents.

Its ~22 nMi from the Delaware River entrance of the C&D (12 mile long) canal to only the 'beginnings' of good sailing in the Chesapeake (translation: 4.5 hours @ 5 knots and with NO current) ... or an additional 1 to 1-1/2hrs driving time by auto.

Marina on the Jersey side of the Delaware

Is there a sailboat friendly Marina on the Jersey side of the Delaware close to the C&D Canal? I live in Northern NJ and plan on purchasing a sailboat within the next 12 months and would like to be close to the C&D for the purpose of sailing the Chesapeake Bay.

Suggestions?
