C&D Canal

No b-fast Denise. We bugged out the next morning early. Made Solomon's by 5 PM.

Re: C&D Canal

I came through in mid May at night. Looked back and saw what I thought were a bunch of lights on a bridge. Looked back several minutes later and realized it was a composite tug pushing. And overtaking me. As I started to ease over to the side he hailed me on 13 (which I was monitoring) and said he was a coming up on me and would I please step aside. Told him I already was sliding to the right. You shouldn't have any problems w/ commercial traffic. Just keep you eyes open and use common sense.
(okay, some people have trouble w/ that last part!)

C&D Canal

We stayed at Ches Inn & Marina. Too hot to anchor!

Re: C&D Canal

Good to hear you had an uneventful C&D transit. Did you stay at the town dock or anchor in the cove?

This is the C&D at sunrise, the light are really a lot brighter than in the photo

Re: C&D Canal

Well the trip thru the C&D was uneventful. Other than a couple of other boats that we saw we had the Canal all to ourselves. I wish we had crossed it at night so we could have had the nite time effect with all the lights on.
We timed the current coming up the Delaware Bay and the C&D perfectly, sometimes hitting 8.5 kts. Made for a very fast trip under power (Zero wind).
I must recommend Chesapeake City. Chesapeake City Inn and Marina is the closest thing to St. Hogue (Captain Ron) I've ever seen. It was awesome. Just stay out of the heads-NASTY!!

Re: C&D Canal

My only fear is having engine failure while transiting the canal even though I've not be down there in 3 years. I love engineers cove and C City,

Re: C&D Canal

The C&D is SO deep, it's very practical for recreational traffic to cruise well outside the marked channel in 20 feet of water. In fact, I find safety in running water shallow enough that big shipping cannot hit me.
