Re: Winches

Yeah I went looking for used winches recently. I was amazed how much people thought their old winches were worth. Even so, the prices don't start going up to worthwhile levels until you get to 40 and up. Although I might have paid a premium for one that matched the other side, but it wasn't to be.

The condition of the winch is really important, and if you can't spin them and check for play in the bearings it is a gamble buying of e-bay, hence, it better be a good deal!

Re: Winches

Last time I looked on e-bay that would be about right. I paid $50 plus shipping for a pair of Barrient 8's for my J-22 about a year ago.

A brand new Lewmar 8 non-st retails for $250. Are you saying it would sell for $25 used? Do you know where I can get a couple at that price?

PM me with the sizes. I have two Enkes on my Cape Dory 25.

Sell them on Ebay. Whatever someone buys them for is what it is worth!

Winches

Not sure if this is the right place to ask or not, but I recently acquired an old boat that has to much hull damage to do anything with, I am most likely just going to scrap the hardware. Does anyone have any clue what Enkes winches may be worth...there are a couple of #22's, 12's, and few smaller ones. I can't find much on the net about them and I was just trying to figure out what I should ask for them. Any help is appreciated.
