Re: tartan VS E35

Seems like it really boils down to what hits your heart strings, and condition. The center board would give some really nice options in the keys/Caribbean. There is an even foot of difference in draft. S&S design verses a King design, still to me it would boil down to condition an quality of maintenance.

That is the 35-2. I vote for the Ericson. It will sail circles around the Tartan.

Re: tartan VS E35

All depends on condition, hours on the engine, equipment and price. Everything being equal, I'd chose the Tartan. How old is the rigging, sails, electronics?

Re: tartan VS E35

Assuming that this is your Ericson choice: ERICSON 35-2 sailboat specifications and details on sailboatdata.com
(there are 2 very different Ericson 35's)
and this is your Tartan 34 choice: TARTAN 34 C sailboat specifications and details on sailboatdata.com

I would choose the T 34 C for both it's build quality and the center board allowing you a shoal draft boat. Ericson's also have a good reputation but the T34 C was designed by Sparkman & Stephens, famous for their good designs.

Ericson, I think they're just a better build quality.

tartan VS E35

A 75 ericson 35 and a 76 tartan 34. Both with atomic 4's. If you had your choice of the two which one would you buy. They are both sloops. The Tartan has a swing board. Sailing with upgrades after purchase of course,

East coast and
Possible Caribean sailing.
