Sailing Frank's Tract in California Delta?

Hello everyone,

Anyone have experience sailing in Frank's Tract on the San Joaquin River in the California Delta?

I've recently slipped my MacGregor 26M nearby, and Frank's looks like a pretty tempting piece of open water to sail on.

Only problem is, I've heard stories of submerged hazards, such as tractors, that one should avoid.

Does anyone have any first-hand knowledge about this area?

Cheers, Joe

Haven't been in that area for many years, kind of remember it is fairly shallow. Here is a chart of the area:

I motored through their recently, at least on the western edge of the tract. I saw other boats (power boats), including the Coast Guard, going through the middle of the tract. It seemed like there was a lot of grass growing in there. I haven't sailed there yet, but have been thinking I might take advantage of these calmer days to slowly motor around in there and do some surveying to get a feel for depths, grass and obstructions. I will post if I do.
