I am considering buying this abandoned boat. The title identifies it as a Peterson 26, but it does not look like the Petersons I have found pictured on the internet. Does anyone know what make of boat this is? BTW it has an inboard diesel. Thanks.

It certainly has the look of a late 70s Peterson design - particularly the stern/counter/rudder arrangement.

As to who built it, that's an open question. Look for a stamped identification number on the transom, but if it's a one-off, and from the 70s, there likely isn't going to be one.

Peterson is a designer, but many builders used his designs, especially semi custom builders of racing hulls.

Hopefully someone will recognize it for you.

Also, it would help if you said what the stats on the boat were... LWL, LOA, DISPL, BEAM, DRAFT, etc.

From the deck layout, it definitely looks like a racing design, rather than a cruising design. No cabintop to speak of... and a very nearly flush deck.
