You missed the Schock 40 typ PHRF -21

Note the handicap ratIngs are often highly politicized and gamed.

one nuance in your spreadsheet would be to determine 'speed' per foot of waterline - might be illuminating

OK I confess I can be an geek sometimes...

I copied the information on the PDF that Tanley kindly kinked to, put them into a spreadsheet and sorted them by handicap rating.

Just thought this might be of interest to some of you...
Here are the top 50 fastest hulls!

Re: Is there a directory anywhere of fastest sailing hulls?

Actually, the other way around. Lower is faster. I think the scale is based on a theoretical Yacht with a rating of 0. The PHRF rating represent the # of seconds a boat will either be behind (positive #) or ahead (negative #) of the theoretical yacht on a per mile basis.

The ratings change geographically, based on local conditions and the performance of certain classes/boats over time. I don't race, and I'm sure others on this site can provide a much better explanation. I only use it as a reference to a boats relative speed when shopping for our "next boat".

What is PHRF?

Googling PHRF will give you a lot more choices.
Thank you for that Tanley.

though I must admit I am not sure how to read the information in the PDF.
Higher the handicap the faster the boat?

My thinking was that each manufacturer must measure the drag co efficient or hydrodynamics or whatever the nautical equivalent of aerodynamics are for each hull design they use.

It is only logical that a lighter boat with a more streamlined profile 'should' be faster than a less streamlined profile.

This must be measurable somehow.

There are hull ratings for racing already aren't there?

No doubt they're fast, but they sure look like strictly flat water boats, to me...

I haven't seen an interior potentially more dangerous in a seaway in quite some time... Imagine getting thrown across into one of those ridiculous countertop surface projections? What the hell are they thinking with that sort of crap?

You might be able to get away with that Soho loft-style interior on a 100' Wally, but on a 43-footer, probably not so much...

Is there a directory anywhere of fastest sailing hulls?

I was just having a nosey around and came across an all carbon cruiser/racer and that got me to thinking...

Is there a directory anywhere of monohull speeds/performance?

I know that skill and experience will often trump a novice in a faster boat/car/bike etc, but that's not what I'm getting at.

I just started wondering about all the new carbon fibre tech and other innovations I wonder if the newer boats are getting that much faster and if so is there any kind of online directory anywhere.

Just FYI, this is one the all carbon yachts I just found... (52ft)

Very 'different interior'
and a the baby of the range 43ft...

Just thought this would make an interesting discussion...
This certainly looks like it would be a fast yacht
